What's New from the National Braille Press during COVID-19

https://www.nbp.org/

The National Braille Press (NBP) promotes Braille literacy, through instructional programs for children and courses for teachers of the visually impaired. NBP also provides access to information that empowers blind people to actively engage in work, family, and community affairs.  The Braille bookstore offers a wide range of books for adults and children, in a variety of formats, as well as other Braille publications. You can also purchase Braille jewelry and gifts; customized Braille business cards; and tactile maps and atlases.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, National Braille Press is continuing to operate with a blend of some staff working in the building and others working remotely. All departments are open, but some are not operating at full capacity yet. Digital downloads from the bookstore are immediately available and bookstore orders are processed and mailed on a weekly schedule. If you have any questions or concerns, you should email agrima@nbp.org.

Braille Me device

In 2016, NBP'S Center for Braille Innovation introduced the B2G, a refreshable Braille display. NBP has recently begun marketing The Braille Me, a low-cost refreshable display with many up-to-date uses and connectivity options.

"To help you take on some of the practical challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic", NBP is also offering free digital downloads of three Braille books: Navigating Health Care, When All They Can See Is That You Can't, by Deborah Kendrick; Judy Dixon's Getting Visual Assistance with An iPhone; and Dinner Delivered: Accessible and Easy Ways To Receive Meals Direct To Your Door, by Kim Loftis and Chris Grabowski of Mystic Access. These downloads will remain free through August 31.
