You may have heard of the Be My Eyes app that helps people with vision loss identify items by sight. This just released: Be My Eyes is now available for Android devices! Visit this site to find out more, and plan to tune into Eyes on Success on Wednesday, November 1st at 5pm when hosts Pete and Nancy go deeper into this application and how it works.
Today, the Be My Eyes community consists of more than 38,000 blind or visually impaired users and more than 550,000 sighted volunteers from all over the world.
Be My Eyes harnesses the power of technology and generosity to connect blind and visually impaired users with sighted volunteers through a live video connection. Volunteers lend their eyes to assist visually impaired users with a wide range of tasks, both large and small. For example:
- Matching colors and clothing
- Distinguishing between household or kitchen products at home or at the store; cans, cleaning products, shampoo, etc.
- Determining departure or arrival of public transportation
- Navigating in unfamiliar surroundings
Learn more about the app and how it can help you. And find out how a person can volunteer to be a sighted helper.
